1. What our EQAO prep program covers
Our program is built around what EQAO actually assesses. For Grade 3 and Grade 6 students, that means all three strands: reading, writing, and mathematics, drawn straight from the Ontario curriculum. For Grade 9 students, it is the EQAO mathematics assessment. We don't hand your child a stack of generic worksheets. An Ontario-certified teacher works through where your child stands in each strand, then targets the specific expectations EQAO will test — the reading comprehension strategies, the writing organization, the math problem-solving and communication. Every practice set we use is in the EQAO style, so the format itself is familiar long before test day: the question wording, the amount of writing expected, and the way answers need to show thinking.
2. How it works: from free trial to test day
It starts with a free trial session that doubles as an assessment. Your child's teacher identifies strengths and gaps against the EQAO expectations — not just a mark, but a clear picture of which reading, writing, and math skills are test-ready and which need work. From that assessment we build a personalized prep plan with a realistic weekly rhythm. Sessions focus on three things: filling the curriculum gaps, practising EQAO-style questions, and learning test craft — reading questions carefully, showing work clearly in math, organizing written answers, and managing time so nothing is left blank. Along the way we check progress against the plan and adjust. By the final weeks, your child has worked through enough EQAO-style material that the real assessment feels like just another practice day — which is exactly the point.
3. When to start: the 8-to-12-week window
The most common mistake parents make with EQAO is starting too late. A week of cramming cannot rebuild a shaky understanding of fractions or teach reading strategies that take time to sink in. We recommend starting 8 to 12 weeks before the spring assessment window — enough runway to fix real gaps and build genuine confidence, without turning the season into a pressure cooker. Starting earlier is always fine; with only a couple of weeks to go we can still help with test strategies and a focused review, but the deep work needs time. If you are reading this in the fall or winter, you are actually in the ideal position: steady weekly sessions now mean your child arrives at EQAO season already prepared.
4. One-on-one or small group for test prep?
Both work — it depends on your child. One-on-one prep ($40/hour) is the fastest route when there are specific gaps to close, or when your child is anxious about the test and needs a calm, private space to build confidence. Small-group prep ($25/hour per student, maximum four students) suits students who are roughly on track and want structured practice alongside peers — many students genuinely enjoy the shared energy of preparing together. 5. Pricing built for prep season
Our twice-weekly monthly packages were practically designed for test prep: eight sessions a month at $300 for one-on-one or $180 for group — $20 less per month than pay-as-you-go.
